Pizza Hut
A true online success story
Pizza Hut has been around for over 50 years, owing its existence to Frank and Dan Carney, who got the idea for a local pizza restaurant in Wichita, Kansas, back in 1958. The sign on their small, 25-seater restaurant had room for just nine letters, and the building resembled a hut. Hence the name 'Pizza Hut'. Today, Pizza Hut is the world's largest Pizza Company and is 100% owned by Yum! Brands Inc., who also own KFC and Taco Bell. The first UK Pizza Hut restaurant opened in 1973 and there are now 350 full dine-in restaurants and 250 delivery units across the country.
Bringing Fast Service Online
In 2006, seeing the growth of broadband adoption and online ordering, Pizza Hut decided to develop their own online delivery service. They also knew that their main target audience was both young and web-savvy and would therefore be comfortable with a web-based offering, a view reinforced by Pizza Hut's experience of the USA online market after their launch in 2005.
Why Choose Adactus?
Pizza Hut wanted to deal with a lean, nimble organisation that could react flexibly and fast. So they chose to partner with both Adactus and Blue Barracuda (BB). Adactus, spawned by Dell Online, had compelling credentials for the task, especially their pan-European experience and thorough understanding of ecommerce platforms, while BB was one of the fastest growing, London-based, digital media specialising in user interface design.
